Privacy policy

Last updated: June 2026

In plain terms: your photos and meals are encrypted, used only to produce your estimate, never sold. You stay in control and can delete everything. Details below.

1. Who we are

Volumeal is a calorie-tracking app published in France. This policy explains what data we process, why, and what your rights are. The data controller is the publisher of Volumeal, reachable at [email protected].

2. Data we process

Depending on your use, we may process:

  • the meal photos you take, plus the meals, portions and goals you save;
  • optional profile information (age, sex, height, weight, goal) to estimate your needs;
  • minimal technical data (device type, app version) for proper operation and security;
  • if you create an account, an Apple or Google identifier — with no password stored by us.

3. What it is used for

Your data is used only to:

  • produce your meal estimates and keep your journal;
  • calculate your goal and trends;
  • sync, if you enable it, with Apple Health or Google Fit;
  • ensure security and improve estimate quality in aggregate.

We never use your data for advertising.

4. Never sold

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. No data is shared with data brokers or advertisers. Period.

5. Guest mode & account

You can use Volumeal in anonymous guest mode. Signing in via Apple or Google is optional and serves only to back up and sync your data across devices.

6. Retention

Your data is kept as long as your account is active. You can delete a photo or meal at any time, or request full deletion of your account — in which case your data is erased within a reasonable period, except where the law requires retention.

7. Security

Your photos and meals are encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is strictly limited and logged. No system is infallible, but protecting your data is a design priority.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. You can exercise them from the app or by writing to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

9. Processors

We use hosting and infrastructure providers contractually bound to confidentiality and security, acting only on our instructions. Payments and subscriptions are handled by Apple and Google, subject to their own policies.

10. Changes

This policy may change. Any significant change will be flagged in the app. The last-updated date appears at the top of this page.
